The ESPN sports complex at Walt Disney World hosts some of the best athletes and coaches in the entire world. With Olympic trials just around the corner, we stopped by to get a behind-the-scenes look at how legendary coach Brooks Johnson is training his latest batch of Olympic hopefuls. Johnson shared his thoughts on why recovery is one of the most important things you can build into your training schedule:

“My advice to recreational runners is to make sure you don’t let it become obsessive-compulsive. Sit down when you are objective and unemotional and write out a program, and stick to that program. For every intense session of activity, there should be a recovery cycle, that’s where you get the benefits of training. On the work cycle you're basically getting tears in tissue, then the body has to repair that to bring you to the next level," he says.
