A Curious Cleanser Discovers the Art of Juicing

I have always been a juicing skeptic. I am not a big salad eater, so I didn’t think I would like those flavors all blended up. At the same time I’d heard the benefits of juicing included a revitalized body, better skin, and improved digestion, so I went to a recent juicing breakfast sponsored by Juice Generation and Cooler Cleanse with an open mind.

The event’s venue had been decorated like a tropical island, and fittingly people were sitting at tables drinking out of coconuts with neon straws. As it turns out, the new Garden Green Coco and Pink Pitaya Coco blends are served in Thai coconuts (the fresh coconut meat gives them some extra fiber), and are both available at the eight Juice Generation locations in New York City. The Garden Green Coco is a mixture of organic kale and spinach with coconut meat, and the pitaya blend is a sweet juice filled with antioxidants, fiber and Vitamin C. The pitaya, a fruit similar to dragonfruit, is exclusively sold at Juice Generation from organic farms in Nicaragua.

As we ate a vegan breakfast, Cooler Cleanse—owned by the same company as Juice Generation—introduced its new Juice for a Day plan, which gives juicing newbies a chance to try cleansing with only a day long commitment. Cooler Cleanse juices can be shipped right to your door and come in flavors like almond nut milk, apple lemon ginger, and grapefruit & mint. If you’re not ready to replace all of your meals with juices, you can use products from Cooler Cleanse and Juice Generation to supplement a healthy diet and help you squeeze in your recommended fruit and veggie intake.

The Pitaya Coco Blend was absolutely scrumptious and energizing, but I was happy I had some French toast on the side and was ready for a late lunch a couple hours after the event ended. I don’t think I’d last long on a juice cleanse, but I’m definitely open to trying Juice For a Day. If you’re considering a juice cleanse as well, be sure to consult a doctor before making major changes to your diet. While cleanses have benefits, extended cleanses can have harmful side effects.
