Healthy Things We Heart: Bonk Breaker

If you depend on pre-packaged sports nutrition as much as I do, you know how hard it can be to find a bar you love. So many either taste terrible, are impossible to chew during intense exercise, or, once eaten, sit like a brick in your stomach. That’s why I did a happy little dance when I noticed that my local sporting goods store had started carrying Bonk Breaker. One of my cycling teammates introduced me to the Peanut Butter & Jelly flavor last year, and I instantly fell in love. The bar was moist, flavorful, and contained 250 energy-revving calories in one small rectangle. Alas, they were nearly impossible to find, short of ordering them in bulk off Amazon as my teammate had been doing. This year, though, Bonk Breaker's distribution seems to be expanding—along with their selection. On my last bike ride, I stopped in at a shop that carried an even wider variety than my local store. I tried the Peanut Butter & Banana bar (also delicious). But the next time I'm there I'm stuffing my jersey pockets with the Almond Butter & Honey, Apple Pie, and Fig bars. My weary body and flavor-fatigued taste buds have never been so excited.
