Meatless Monday: The Most Veg-Friendly Ballpark in America
The Philadelphia Phillies may not be having the best season, but the team’s stadium, Citizens Bank Park, was just named the most vegetarian-friendly ballpark in America by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Meatfree alternatives to traditional ballpark fare include a vegan chicken-steak sandwich, veggie "pit beef" and barbecue sauce, an Italian vegetable grinder, veggie dogs, and black bean burgers.
Citizens Bank Park is one of many MLB stadiums where you’ll find concession stands stocked with more than Cracker Jacks and nachos. The other venues that top PETA’s list, like the Los Angeles Dodgers' Dodger Stadium and the Washington Nationals' Nationals Park, are serving up vegan sloppy Joes, veggie sushi, edamame, tofu sandwiches made with Veganaise, falafel, pasta primavera, vegetarian lo mein, salad with fried green tomatoes, stir fry, and vegan mousse martinis.
