Gold-Medal-Worthy Internet Sensations

We’re still on a high from USA soccer and water polo wins and Usain Bolt’s repeat gold medals, but in addition to all of the more traditional Olympic thrills, one of our favorite parts of this year’s games has been the internet sensations they’ve spawned. Here are a few of our favorites.

McKayla is not impressed
While we’ll never forget McKayla Maroney’s gorgeous Amanars, the most memorable image of this gymnast has to be the disapproving look on her face as she received her silver medal (the result of falling during her second vault). This meme slaps gymnast McKayla’s silver medal scowl next to everything from the first moon landing to Kristen Stewart’s infamous infidelity pics. (Check out our designer’s submission above!)

Aly Raisman’s parents
Apparently gymnasts’ death-defying stunts put a strain on parents too. Watch Aly Raisman’s family’s hilarious reaction as she competes on the uneven bars.

USA Swimming performs "Call Me Maybe"
Okay, you’re probably getting sick of the numerous versions of the song by now, but we couldn’t help revisiting our favorite—and the fittest—rendition. Check out the members of the American swim team sing along with Jepsen’s hit.

Ryan Lochte (#JEAH)
Maybe more shocking than Lochte’s win over Michael Phelps in the 400-meter individual medley was the ridiculous flag grill the swimmer revealed as he stepped onto the podium. Then we were treated to this mash-up of his less-than-stellar interviewing skills, and some of his deepest thoughts (face palm!) (More: Ryan Lochte’s Juicy Secrets)

Diving fail
We hate to laugh at someone else’s misfortune, but we couldn’t help but giggle at German Stephan Feck's dive that went horribly awry. Speaking of diving…

Unintentional censorship in male diving (plus: hilarious diver faces)
Due to an awkwardly placed graphic, these divers appear to be competing in their birthday suits. Plus, we love these hilarious shots of divers’ faces mid-air.

Tom Daley is sexy and he knows it
As maybe an answer to the U.S. swim team's "Call Me Maybe," British diver Tom Daley and a few of his teammates performed LMFAO's hit song.
