Garmin is one of the leading manufacturers of high-end running and cycling watches and computers—the Edge 800 and the 910XT, for example, are technological marvels that monitor nearly every facet of a serious athlete’s training routine. Now the company has something designed specifically for beginners and the more casual competitor. This week, Garmin launches the all-new Forerunner 10, which will retail for $129.99 and be available in stores this fall.

Garmin bills the entry-level device as the perfect watch for runners and walkers who just want to lace up their sneakers and go. The watch is water resistant up to 50 meters and has a high-sensitivity GPS receiver for quick satellite acquisition on wooded trails or in urban areas with tall buildings. It comes in three different colors—black with red accents, pink and green—and has a large display to show distance, speed, overall time, and calories burned.

Training data and route maps can be saved on the Garmin Connect website so users can track progress and find out when they’ve hit training goals or reached a new personal best. The GPS data is uploaded via USB to your computer, which allows the watch to recharge while your uploading all new data from your latest runs and walks.
