Would you put your prepubescent daughter on a pole? Twisted Grip Dance & Fitness Studio in British Columbia is offering a children’s pole dancing class called “Little Spinners”, according to the National Post. Children as young as five are enrolled.

Studio owner and instructor Kristy Craig says parents requested the class, which will not include anything provocative. “This is strictly about fitness,” she said.

Although pole dancing is commonly associated with strip clubs, the activity is evolving into a sport. “For competitions they actually have rules and regulations that there can be nothing sexual, or any article of clothing removed, and in some you aren’t allowed to wear high heels," says Craig. "The sexuality is being taken out of it. It’s highlighting the gymnastic, athletic and circus acrobatics aspect.”

Tammy Morris, president of the Canadian Pole Fitness Association, says kids love pole dancing. “They have no association with it or think there is anything wrong or bad about it. That’s an adult putting that on them.”

What do you think? Is pole dancing a fun, challenging physical activity for kids or completely inappropriate?
