These days, fast-food and restaurant chains are advertising fruit, veggie, and whole grain options that seem to be more farmers’ market than fast food—yes, that is oatmeal you see on the drive-thru menu. But examine the nutritional information and it’s clear that Ronald McDonald and his buddies are up to the same old tricks.

“Sometimes fast-food items can be dressed up to look good but are deceptively loaded with hidden sugars and fat,” says Sari Greaves, RD, a spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association and nutrition director of Step Ahead Weight Loss Center in Bedminster, NJ.
