“People love to jog, Rollerblade, and bike alongside the Charles River, but if you really want to rip it, go to Harvard Stadium in the spring or summer. It’s U-shaped, and there are 37 sections. Try going up the 2-feet deep seats and then down the stairs, and see if you can make it around the entire stadium.”
– David Jack, director of Teamworks Fitness
New York, NY
“I love Astoria Park. There's a beautiful track along the river—just over the Triborough Bridge—with an incredible view of Manhattan skyline. I like to do sprint intervals there because the setting is amazing and there’'s always a motivating buzz of people around.”
– Frank Baptiste, CSCS, founder of FranklyFitness

“The Mall is one of the most beautiful places in the country to get outside and get moving! The 2.5 miles from one end to the other goes by in a flash as you people-watch and check out the impromptu soccer and Frisbee games. This winter, I saw people cross-country skiing as the snow fell on the Washington Monument—unforgettable!”
– Angie Perez, REI Northeast District Outreach & Events Administrator
Philadelphia, PA
“Living in [the Philly neighborhood of] East Falls, I have several great options for running or biking. One example: I can scoot up the ridge and cruise through the 3 miles of roads in the Laurel Hill Cemetery, or cut over to the barely used Boxers’ Trail in East Park’s Strawberry Mansion section to connect to Lemon Hill while staying above Kelly Drive.”
– Harlan Price, professional mountain bike racer
New Canaan, CT
“I love to run outdoors around New Canaan, where antique stores, fun boutiques, and intimate restaurants are nestled. My path leads me around the historic Silvermine and town of Greenwich, where I get a taste of the countryside.”
– Noel Rosenstein, Equinox group fitness manager
If it’s too hot to exercise outside, try this living room workout instead.
