Cross-Country Skiing
Cross-country skiing has long been one of the mainstays of winter training for cyclists, says Carmichael. The aerobic demands of skiing are tremendous, meaning you can maintain or even improve your aerobic endurance and your ability to process lactate (even if it's not entirely in a cycling-specific movement). Cross-country skiing is also a weight-bearing, full-body workout that taxes the upper body muscles just as hard as it does the cardio engine and lower extremities.
