Starting a diet and fitness plan without first reorganizing a few aspects of your everyday life is like putting yourself in a race that has a hurdle within the first three steps. You’ll never get the chance to develop a comfortable rhythm or really hit your stride. “I’m met with resistance whenever I tell people that they have to take a tiny bit of time to get organized before they launch into a diet or workout plan,” says Wendy Bazilian, DrPH, RD and author of The SuperFoods Rx Diet. “They want to get into action immediately and start seeing results before they make sure everything is set up for them to be successful.” Unfortunately, your closet, kitchen, TV room, and a few other key areas of your house are some of the first obstacles tipping the scales against you. Yes, reorganizing sounds awful, time-consuming, and even a bit dusty, but it’s the best way to hit the ground running.

If your home is already spick-and-span, work on your cubicle! Get organized at the office.
