Weight Loss Tip for a Healthy Home

Getting Organized Can Help You Lose

Cleaning up is the pits now, but it’s going to make losing weight—and keeping it off—much easier down the road

Designate Workout Space

Whether or not you have a gym membership, it’s important to clear out a space to exercise in your home. “Set up your environment to inspire healthy behavior,” says Bazilian. Just because you’re not at the gym doesn’t mean you can’t drop and do a few pushups.

Grab a yoga mat and set up shop in a favorite space, says Bazilian. “Make it a place in your home where you actually like to be. You’re not going to fall in love with exercising right away so don't assume the dirty concrete floor in the garage will inspire you—that just gives you another reason not to work out.” It’s also helpful to set up a satellite workout space in your TV room. Keep a set of light dumbbells, a resistance band, or a small medicine ball in a basket or box within reach from the couch, says Bazilian. If the feeling strikes to do a few curls or weighted crunches while catching up on Biggest Loser, you’ll be prepared.
