In fact, when we asked Michele Olson, PhD, an exercise physiologist, certified strength and conditioning coach, Pilates instructor, and exercise science professor at Auburn University in Montgomery, Alabama, for a less humiliating way to do these exercises, she did us one better. It turns out, according to Olson, that many of those very exercises that make you want to hide out in the locker room actually aren’t that effective to begin with.
