Just set a personal record on your local hill climb and want to tell your friends? Upload your data to the Strava website and they'll know you're the new King of the Mountains. It's what Strava calls "finding new motivation with social training." Get started by downloading the Strava app or syncing your Strava account directly to a GPS device such as a Garmin. Then go ride or run. Trackable metrics include distance, elevation gain, heart rate, and power. But the real hook is Strava's social component. Compare your results over time or see how you stack up against friends (or foes) on similar ride segments, and even leave taunting messages when you take the KoM title.
Cost: app, free. Basic on-line service, free. Premium service, $6 per month. Info: Strava.com
