Eggs Benedict

Eggs are loaded with protein and essential vitamins, but doctor 'em up too much and you'll land yourself a caloric catastrophe. "The hollandaise sauce poured on top contains two main ingredients–egg yolks and clarified butter," explains Michelle Dudash, RD, chef, and author of Clean Eating for Busy Families (December 2012). "The butter racks up calories and saturated fat."

Healthy Fats You Should Never Avoid

Brunch Better: Ask for hollandaise sauce on the side and enjoy a light drizzle. "Ordering asparagus and tomato slices on top also adds deliciousness and bulk to this dish with few calories and lots of beneficial nutrients," says Dudash. Or skip this entree altogether and opt for a vegetable frittata or a poached egg on a bed of sautéed vegetables with crusty whole-grain toast, she suggests.
