Tour Colorado By Bike

Professional bike racing returned to Colorado after a 23-year hiatus this summer with the inaugural USA Pro Cycling Challenge. The weeklong circuit around the Rocky Mountain state featured such top pros as 2011 Tour de France winner Cadel Evans; large, raucous crowds; and a chance for the world to see some of the finest roads for cycling anywhere.

That's where you come in. Whether you're a casual cyclist, aspiring racer, ardent weekend warrior, or new to the sport, Colorado is beckoning. The roads the pros rode are the same ones locals and tourists ride the rest of the year-and you don't need to be a professional to enjoy them. We talked with Tour riders, team managers, and longtime locals to compile this list of rides, from a short trip around Denver or Breckenridge to an all-day epic adventure from Gunnison to Aspen. Read up and ride on.
