You may think of golf as a pastime for out-of-shape middle-aged men. Any pro will tell you, however, that to succeed in the game you need to be in great shape. Core strength and flexibility improve your spine’s range of motion, allowing you to make the most of your swing. (Search: Golf swing tips) “In golf, range of motion is more important than their overall strength,” says Mike Malaska, a PGA professional and the 2011 National PGA Teacher of the Year. These four moves from Malaska strengthen the muscles in your abdominal, lower back, and leg muscles. By integrating them into your workout routine you’ll prevent injuries caused by the twisting and turning that golf requires. As you become more flexible, you may also send that little white ball sailing a little further across the green.
