Even though no one’s sprinting across the green, a round of golf can deliver quite the workout. A University of Pittsburgh study found that golfers who walked and carried their own clubs burned about 1,000 calories after nine holes; those who rode on a cart still burned 650 calories. It shouldn’t come as a shock though: Aside from lugging your clubs across the fairway, you’ll need a good deal of force and strength from your core each time you tee off.
